Farm House Accommodation

Accommodation at Fonteinplaas is available in the historic farmhouse of Oupa Piet Mostert, Pietjie and Hester Swanepoel, Hendrik se Huisie as well as the newer Kliphuis. Guests will experience the way the Gamkaskloofers lived and will also see the architecture and building methods used in Gamkaskloof since the same materials and building methods were used when restoring the house of Pietjie and Hester Swanepoel, presumed to be the oldest house in Gamkaskloof.

Accommodation is on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis although both houses are fully equipped for self-catering.

There is also the campsite with running water. Three ablution blocks with flush toilets and a hot water shower.


The house of Oupa Piet Mostert

This house can accommodate 6 people comfortably, and is fitted with solar lighting, gas cooking facilities and a big indoor braai.


The house of Pietjie and Hester Swanepoel

This house can accommodate 5 people comfortably.

Because of its historic status this house does not have solar powered lighting. Guests have to use the supplied candles and paraffin lamps - adding to the Gamkaskloof experience. The house was extended by adding rooms as the family grew. These rooms do not have interior doors into the house but only onto the porch.


Die Kliphuis

This is a beautiful Stone house, with stunning views over the Western side of the valley. Sleeps four, two double bedrooms with own bathrooms.

A spacious and lovely dining area with big open fireplace in the kitchen. Secluded from the rest of the houses, tranquil and quiet.


Hendrik se Huisie

This house can accommodate a couple, there is a single double bed.

This is a small Karoo Style cottage, perfect for a happy couple. One, open space for dining, relaxing and sleeping. This is perfect for an overnight stay, with great views of the Gamkaskloof mountains.
